Way Too Early Republic List

With only a handful of Republic cards spoiled thus far, our options are… limited. However, it’s tough not to dive into the potential combinations and throw a list together. This list leans into the Acclamator-1. Granted, it’s the only Acclamator that’s been entirely shown but it lines up with what I think the Republic will want to do, push squadrons.

The Carrier

With two offensive retrofit slots and a natural squadron value of 3, the Acclamator-1 makes for a neat carrier platform. Able to follow it’s fighters into the fray and throw black dice at anything that gets too close, the ACC-1 will likely have a place in all of my Republic lists for a while (until we get a Venator…. Oh boy I can’t wait for that!)

With our carrier spoken for, these two ACC-1’s are identical minus the presence of Mr. Organa.

Following the team at Steel Strategy revealing Clone Navigation Officer (CNO) to the world, I’m so excited to be able to share my thoughts on something that I loved from playtesting!

As we move towards version 1.5 of Armada, we know that command tokens will be more important than ever before. Many of the cool new toys that are being released as well as some of the classic staples from list building in the past, now require tokens to refresh them and/or allow them to function.

I think this will result in Veteran Captain becoming a more common addition to lists. However, if those lists are Republic lists, CNO should absolutely be your choice!

The versatility that this card brings is wonderful and with it beginning the game with a navigation token on the card (per the blue sidebar on the left side of the card) you’re getting two organic uses for 4 points. Thus, in a list like this one that’s looking to disperse con-fire tokens amongst the ships in order to maximise the use we get from Clone Gunners, I love this card.

So, considering the above three ships, the goal for our trio of Acclamators is to follow our squadron wing into the fray. If we can use CNO early in the game to spread con-fire tokens to our ships, dial up crucial squadron commands at the right time, and, with Bail allowing each ship to make crucial navigational adjustments, we could be in for a good time!

Give me the Republic Y-Wing FFG!

Until more Republic squadron information is revealed, I’m afraid I’m left with no choice but to fly a mix of V-19 Torrents & Delta-7 squadrons.

I am a sucker for things that ‘feel’ cool but don’t always work on the table. With that said, it’s hard for me not to pair my V-19s up such that each pair flanks a Delta-7 squadron. With the torrents providing their escort services, and the Delta-7s being accurate with their organic reroll, I bet this squadron group could chew through any vulture droids thrown in its way!

Final Thoughts

Coming up against two fully kitted out ISDs, with a handful of elite Imperial aces, would likely spell a bad time for my plucky clones, but if it means I get to play with new toys, I’d take that matchup in a heartbeat!

  1. Looks like a fun list - but, I'm biased!

What would you change folks? I bet there are old-er upgrades that I have overlooked.
